Women's Studies AB/Communication Studies MA

Students with Master's degrees in Communication Studies have pursued careers at the Centers for Disease Control, National Institutes of Mental Health, and a variety of other government agencies. They have also pursued careers in political campaigns, pharmaceutical sales, social movements, personnel offices, corporate training, and public relations. Students also pursue doctoral degrees and teach at major universities.

Admission to Program

Be a current WMST major of at least junior standing with a minimum WMST GPA of 3.5 and a 3.0 GPA overall.

Students who have taken the GRE with a verbal score of at least 150 and a quantitative score of at least 140 and completed the following courses with a grade of 3.0 or higher:
• 2 upper-level (3000- or 4000-level) WMST courses
• STAT 2000

Admission to Graduate Program

Admission decisions are based on a holistic examination of credentials presented including previous academic performance (e.g., transcripts), three letters of recommendation, a writing sample, statement of objectives, and GRE scores. To be admitted to the M.A. program, students should have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0, a GRE verbal score of at least 153, a GRE quantitative score of at least 144, as well as strong letters and a very good writing sample.
