Ellen Everitt, who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in theatre and a master’s degree in nonprofit management and leadership, says the Double Dawgs program prepares her for leadership roles in the arts after graduation.

Theatre A.B., Nonprofit Management and Leadership M.A. My goal is to explore the ways nonprofits can benefit the artistic communities they serve to create innovative and exciting theatre that sustains a community.

I believe nonprofit theatre gives artists the support to create brave new work without the stipulation that it be the next Hamilton. It allows artists the experience of trying new things out and going into pathways that for-profit theatre cannot risk exploring because it may not be profitable.
Oh gosh, that would be like trying to pick my favorite arm or leg. I think all my professors have given me something different and extremely valuable throughout my time at UGA.
Look for work in Atlanta in one of its many nonprofit theatres. My major career goal is to become artistic or managing director of a nonprofit theatre. Maybe in 10-15 years I can get there, but for right now my mind is more set on traveling and gaining as much varied work experience with theatres as I can.
