Family and Consumer Sciences Education BSFCS/Workforce Education MEd

Family and Consumer Sciences Education is a field of study whose goal is to help, teach, and inspire others to strengthen home and family. Graduates become educators in a variety of fields, including schools, government entities, industry, or community based non-profits. Employment is also available as extension agents to businesses and government. In the next 3-5 years, two thirds of the current Family and Consumer Science teachers teaching courses in Foods and Nutrition Science and Child Development will retire; therefore, there is a critical need for qualified teachers with 21st century skills to teach in these areas. This Double Dawgs program will prepare graduates to teach both Family and Consumer Science curriculum and career navigation skills for the 21st century in middle school, high school, industry, and government. The Double Dawgs program gives students the advantage to start careers at a higher salary rate than those graduating with a bachelor's degree.
