Health Promotion BSHP(Health Promotion)/Public Health MPH(Health Policy and Management)(non-thesis)

The College of Public Health had a 93% placement rate for the class of 2017. While career outcomes vary by concentration, many of our students go on to federal and state agencies, as well as non-profit organizations. Roughly 15% go on to advanced degree programs such as medical or doctoral programs. The top graduate schools for our MPH Alumni include medical programs at Augusta University and Mercer University, and academic programs at the University of Georgia, University of Florida, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Clemson University. Top employers include Amazon, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Emory University, Georgia Department of Public Health, and Johnson & Johnson, to name just a few. It is our expectation that this Double Dawgs pathway will present opportunities to practice public health as healthcare managers, consultants, program operation specialists, and public health agents in various agencies including HHS, DPH, EPA, and local and state public health departments.

Admission to Program

Students must be advised within the first two years of their undergraduate coursework. Admission to the pathway requires that students also be admitted into the BSHP program upon entering their junior year. In that same term, students will also apply to the pathway.

Admission to the pathway requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 and adequate academic progress in the BSHP program.

Additional requirements that are unique to this Double Dawgs program:

The MPH is a practice degree and requires a minimum of 44 credit hours. Thus, students must begin MPH coursework early in their program of study and must be willing to consider possible summer courses. Separate mandatory Internships and Capstone Projects must also be completed for both the BS and MPH, and cannot be double counted.

Admission to Graduate Program

Admission to the MPH requires completion of the MPH application, including submission of GRE/MCAT/GMAT scores, letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, resume/CV, and verified SOPHAS application.
