Data Science BS/Statistics MS(non-thesis)

Upon completion of the undergraduate and graduate programs of study, the students will be able to get excellent industry and government jobs or choose to pursue higher studies in prestigious universities.

Admission to Program

Students may apply to the Double Dawgs pathway once they have completed MATH 2260, STAT 4230, and 30 hours of undergraduate coursework. This will likely be in their second year.

Students who meet the following criteria will be eligible to apply for the pathway:

- Completed 30 hours of coursework towards the undergraduate degree (including AP/IB credits)
- Completed the following courses* with a grade of B (3.0) or higher:
MATH 2250, MATH 2260, STAT 2000 (or STAT 2100H or STAT 2010), STAT 4220, and STAT 4230
*If course requirement was satisfied by AP or IB testing, criteria is not applicable.

Admission to the pathway does not guarantee admission to the graduate program.

Curriculum

Graduate-level courses that may be used to satisfy undergraduate and graduate program requirements.

Students may take the following to satisfy required courses in their major:

STAT 6510 will satisfy STAT 4510 requirement
STAT 6530 will satisfy STAT 4530 requirement
STAT 6365 will satisfy STAT 4365 requirement

Students may pick one of the following to satisfy one of the three required major electives:

STAT 6100 for STAT 4100
STAT 6240 for STAT 4240
STAT 6250 for STAT 4250
STAT 6260 for STAT 4260
STAT 6270 for STAT 4270
STAT 6280 for STAT 4280
STAT 6290 for STAT 4290
STAT 6350 for STAT 4350
STAT 6440 for STAT 4440
STAT 6620 for STAT 4620
STAT 6800 for STAT 4800

Admission to Graduate Program

Admission to the graduate program is competitive. Application for the graduate program is required by December 1st of the last year of the student's undergraduate program.

- Student has made a B (3.0) or better in all Mathematics (MATH) and Statistics (STAT) courses.
- Meets one of the three criteria below:
-- A GRE Quantitative score at or above the 75th percentile
-- An ACT Math Score at or above the 80th percentile
-- An SAT Math Score at or above the 80th percentile
