Mathematics BS (Applied Mathematics)/Statistics MS

Students who complete this program are qualified to work as statisticians.

Admission to Program

Students may apply to the Double Dawgs pathway once they have completed MATH 3200, STAT 2000 (or STAT 2010 or STAT 2100H), STAT 4210 (or STAT 4110H), STAT 4230, and 30 hours of undergraduate coursework. This will likely be in their second year.

Students who meet the following criteria will be eligible to apply for the pathway:
- Completed 30 hours of coursework towards the undergraduate degree (including AP/IB credits)
- Completed the following courses* with a grade of C (2.0) or higher: MATH 3200, STAT 2000 (or STAT 2010 or STAT 2100H), STAT 4210 (or STAT 4110H), STAT 4230
*If course requirement was satisfied by AP or IB testing, criteria is not applicable.

Admission to the pathway does not guarantee admission to the graduate program.

Admission to Graduate Program

Admission to the graduate program is competitive. Application to the graduate program is required by December 1st of the last year of the undergraduate program. Students should meet the following requirements:
- Student has made a C (2.0) or better in all Mathematics (MATH) and Statistics (STAT) courses.
- Meets one of the three criteria below:
-- A GRE Quantitative score at or above the 75th percentile
-- An ACT Math Score at or above the 80th percentile
-- An SAT Math Score at or above the 80th percentile
