Admission to Program
Students entering the pathway to the dual degree program will need to discuss their options in their second or third years with undergraduate and graduate advisors. Prior to entering the Double Dawgs Program, any student seeking to enroll in a graduate course will need the approval of the instructor of record and the graduate coordinator.
After a student has 60-90 hours in the A.B. program, they will be able to apply to the dual degree (A.B./M.A.) program. We admit M.A. students for fall semester only. Students will begin the application process during their third year to begin the dual degree program in their fourth year.
Students must apply to the dual degree program following the same guidelines and procedures as our traditional graduate students. Admission requirements include a personal statement, a writing sample, GRE scores, and letters of recommendation.

Additional requirements that are unique to this Double Dawgs program:
To complete the Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs (A.B.), students need to satisfy the existing required courses (30 credit hours) in international affairs and take up to 12 credit hours in graduate-level courses.
Requirements that are unique to the dual degree program:
By the end of their fourth year (4th), Double Dawgs must have completed:
-POLS 6100 OR INTL 6300 OR INTL 6200: Field preseminar course (3)
-POLS 7012: Introduction to Political Methodology (3)
-POLS 7014: Intermediate Political Methodology (3)
-POLS/INTL Graduate-level seminar, 3
And must have
-met all undergraduate degree requirements as directed by SPIA’s Undergraduate Advising Office and
-conferred regularly with pathway coordinators
The non-thesis M.A. option requires additional graduate level coursework.

1. Online Graduate School Application and fee ($75 domestic / $100 international)
2. One unofficial transcript from each institution of higher education attended, except the University of Georgia. University of Georgia transcripts are on file. You may upload transcripts through the application portal or mail them directly to the UGA Graduate School.
3. Official GRE general test score report. The UGA institutional code for ETS reporting is 5813. No departmental code is required.

4. Three academic letters of recommendation.
The most convenient way for recommenders to submit letters of recommendation is through the online application process. List the names and email addresses of your recommenders on the online application. They will be sent a link to access a secure page where they can submit your recommendation online. If your recommender prefers to send the letter as a hard copy or an email, it should be sent directly to the Departmental Graduate Office.
