Admission to Program
Students will apply to Double Dawgs pathway by the third Friday in August of year three of the undergraduate program. This application not only includes applying to the Double Dawgs pathway through the Athena system, but also submission of an initial teacher certification application to the Mathematics Education program. Applicants will follow the undergraduate Mathematics Education admittance requirements which include: an overall grade point average of at least 2.75; successful completion of MATH 2250, MATH 2260, and MATH 3200, each course with a grade of C or better; Completion of at least 30 clock hours of tutoring pre-college students in a structured setting in the mathematics of grades 6-12 with required documentation, an essay reflecting on your tutoring experience, and an evaluation by a supervisor or coordinator. Students may apply to the program while these courses and tutoring are in progress, and upon meeting the requirements the following formula will be used to determine admittance: Grade in MATH 2250 + Grade in MATH 2260 + Grade in MATH 3200 + Overall Grade Point Average must be a minimum of 9.75 for admittance to the program.

Admission to Graduate Program
For the Mathematics Education M.A.T Program, students must apply to the Graduate School during the spring semester of their 4th year to be able to begin their remaining graduate courses in the summer immediately following completion of the undergraduate degree. Students must apply to the Graduate School during the spring or summer semester of their 4th year to be able to begin their remaining graduate courses in the fall immediately following completion of the undergraduate degree. A GRE score is not required. By state mandate, applicants must have an overall minimum GPA (undergraduate or combined undergraduate and graduate) of 2.5 to be considered for admission.
