Cellular Biology BS/Public Health MPH(Epidemiology)(non-thesis)

The College of Public Health had a 93% placement rate for the class of 2017. Career outcomes vary by concentration, but many of our students go on to federal and state agencies, as well as non-profit organizations. Roughly 15% go on to advanced degree programs such as medical or doctoral programs. The top graduate schools for our MPH Alumni include medical programs at Augusta University and Mercer University, and academic programs at the University of Georgia, University of Florida, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Clemson University. Top employers include Amazon, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Emory University, Georgia Department of Public Health, and Johnson & Johnson, to name just a few. It is our expectation that the Double Dawgs Pathway will be a clear step towards careers in the medical field for many of our dual degree students from the cellular biology, molecular biology, and biology programs. A few fields that will be new opportunities for our pathway graduates include epidemiologists, environmental health scientists, consultants, and public health initiative coordinators.

Admission to Program

After completing 60 hours of undergraduate coursework, students will apply to take four graduate courses prior to formal admission to the MPH program. This application process will add them to the Double Dawgs Pathway no later than the fall of Year-3. Students will formally apply to the MPH program no later than early spring of Year-4. They will begin registering as full time MPH students in summer of Year-4, following completion of the undergraduate degree.

Additional requirements that are unique to this Double Dawgs program:

Students are required to fulfill all Epidemiology MPH program requirements, a six credit MPH Internship (PBHL 7560) and three credit capstone project (PBHL 7800). Graduate credit hours must total 44 or more.

Admission to Graduate Program

Students need to have a recommended 3.5 GPA to apply to take graduate courses.
Students need to have a recommended 3.0 GPA to apply to the MPH program.
Students must take the GRE or MCAT no later than fall of Year-4, in order to be considered for admissions in the MPH program.
GRE recommended scores are 50th percentile or above in quantitative, qualitative, and analytic portions of the exam.
MCAT recommended minimum scores should mirror the average for the state, which is currently 509.
Students must complete all EPID, or EHSC graduate course and fieldwork before they can obtain the MPH.
