Admission to Program
Interested B.Mus. Performance majors should submit a departmental application form for the dual degree pathway by the end of the second semester of their junior year, either at the time of their second semester performance jury or their junior recital, whichever occurs at the end of the second semester of their junior year. The departmental application form can be found on the Hugh Hodgson School of Music website (www.music.uga).
The skill, musicianship, and artistry demonstrated in the junior-level performance jury and junior recital will form the principal eligibility for admission. Applicants will submit three letters of reference, including their principal studio teacher, a major ensemble conductor, and one additional member of the music faculty.
Other eligibility requirements include:
(1) Successful completion of the following courses: MUSI 2120 Music Theory IV; MUSI 2130 Aural Skills IV; MUSI 2530 Class Piano IV; MUSI 2820 Sophomore Applied Lessons & Recital; and MUSI 3210 Music History I.
(2) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (UGA coursework).
