Students who successfully complete this Double Dawgs program will be eligible for certification in Special Education in General Curriculum, have completed an advanced degree in Special Education-General Curriculum, and hold a Graduate Certificate in Dyslexia. As Special Education continues to be a critical shortage area in Georgia, this pathway positions gradates to be teacher leaders and reading intervention specialists in K-12 public schools. Graduates are recommended for a master’s level teaching certificate (T-5), which earns a higher teacher salary in Georgia and indicates that the graduate is prepared to provide evidence-based practices in Special Education as well as to support other faculty in providing appropriate interventions for students with high incidence disabilities.
