Career and Academic Opportunities

The College of Public Health had a 94% placement rate for the M.P.H. class of 2018. Graduates with an M.P.H. (Area of Emphasis in Health Policy and Management) go on to work in federal and state agencies as well as non-profit organizations and consulting firms. Roughly 15% of graduating students pursue further advanced degree programs such as business, medical, or doctoral programs. The top graduate schools for our M.P.H. Alumni include medical programs at Augusta University and Mercer University, as well as academic programs at the University of Georgia, University of Florida, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Clemson University.
Top employers include Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, University System of Georgia, Georgia Department of Public Health, and Johnson & Johnson, Ernst & Young, Clarke County and Atlanta Public School Districts, and Hospital Systems (to name a few). Our expectation is that the Double Dawgs pathway will provide a clear step for our dual-degree students in public administration programs towards careers in agencies focused on preventive efforts in target populations (i.e. women and minorities, disenfranchised populations, families, school age or aging populations, incarcerated populations, urban and rural populations, high risk groups for disease or disability). A few fields that will be new opportunities for our pathway graduates include health policy analysts, consultants, and coordinators of public health initiatives.
